When it comes to booking a vacation, there are so many things to consider. You need to coordinate flights, accommodations, visits to attractions, dining times, tours, and maybe even a little downtime. It can be enough to make you want to tear your hair out and decide to never take another family vacation ever again. But what if you knew the things you were doing that was making booking a vacation harder than it needs to be? Would that be the magic that would have you embracing vacations with your family once again?
Research is the key to any family vacation. However, there is the potential to drive yourself nuts by either doing too much, or too little, research for your next trip. Too much research can have your head spinning, as you try to fit as many activities into your itinerary as possible. Too little research and you may find that you have no clue what you should be doing while you are on vacation. I mean sitting on the beach 24/7 may sound fabulous to you. But the rest of your family might not feel the same.
Speaking of research, in recent years, anyone planning a vacation has needed to know the current health guidelines of the destination they were visiting. In some scenarios, this simply means showing vaccination status. In others, it means providing proof of a negative test within a certain number of hours, or days, prior to clearing customs or boarding a plane.
This may seem like a simple task. However, I know too many travelers who have miscalculated when they needed to take a test. Some people have taken it too early and then were left scrambling to find a test they could get results for in a short amount of time. If you have ever tried to find a testing site at an airport on the day of your flight with guaranteed results in a couple hours or less, you understand the dilemma. And if you haven’t had the pleasure, consider yourself lucky. It is definitely not the best way to begin a vacation!
You can spend hours researching for your vacation, and even plan your test down to the perfect times. However, you can avoid both those things, and so many other headaches, by simply working with a travel advisor like myself.
During a planning session, I can help you determine which vacation destination is perfect for your family. But that isn’t all. I also ask what each family member likes to do, so I can then find activities everyone will love. Add in arranging flights and accommodations, creating an itinerary with the perfect amount of downtime, scheduling tours, and dealing with those pesky health guidelines, and you won’t need to worry about anything. I take over the booking a vacation process and you simply show up and enjoy yourself during your time away from home.
Now, doesn’t that sound much better than making booking a vacation harder than it needs to be??
