5. If you’ve gained or lost a lot of weight (I’d like to be on the lost weight side) so that you look radically different from your photo, you’ll need a new passport. The same is true if you’ve added (or removed) tattoos or piercings on your face, or had facial trauma or cosmetic surgery (it would be awful to be looking great for my trip but unable to go!).
6. When you apply for a passport, your photo needs to be current within 6 months, and, well, actually look like you! Though it may be tempting, no glamour shots, please! The image also has to have a neutral expression, no squints or exaggerated expressions are allowed (hmm, that might be tough with some teens). The photo also cannot have a uniform or any attire which looks like a uniform.
