You don’t need to follow this itinerary exactly as shown. Instead, you can have me personalize an itinerary for your family vacation in Rome and whichever other Italian cities and towns you choose. Your family can experience Italy in your own terms, while making memories that will last a lifetime.
This fabulous 7-day vacation Rome, Pompeii, and Venice will have you exploring with your very own English-speaking guide. Your guide will meet you when you land at the airport in Rome.
After you are checked in at your hotel, you will have the chance to relax or head out to explore a little on your own. You will be given a city map, as well as other information, so you can plan your next few hours accordingly.
You may want to head to bed early. After all, you have a busy few days ahead of you. Plus, it may be the best way to avoid jet lag. Just don’t go to bed too early! If you do, you will be awake long before you need to.
It is finally time to really explore this beautiful city in Italy. And yet, today’s adventure will have you heading outside of Rome to experience the Anzio Beachhead Museum.
Don’t worry, you will stay in Rome for day three of your family vacation. You will begin in Vatican City. There you will see St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican Museum, and the Sistine Chapel.
Afterwards, you will be driven to Borghese Park, Castle Sant’Angelo, and Circus Maximus. Pay close attention to the Roman Forum. It is where Mark Antony spoke over the body of Julius Caesar.
Your last stop will be the Colosseum.
Day four of your vacation in Rome will be a big one. This is when you will travel from Rome to Naples and Pompeii. The journey to Naples will take place via train. You will then meet your driver, who will take you to Pompeii.
This historic site was destroyed by an erupting volcano. Archaeologists have begun the difficult task of unburying this city to see the treasures that are still present down below. Your family will be able to see parts of this preserved city.
A few of the things you will see include forums, villas, and baths. Inside some of the homes, you will see signs of what people were doing when the volcano erupted.
After your visit, you will be driven back to the train station in Naples for your journey back to Rome.
There is plenty to do in Rome, but staying in Venice will become one of the highlights of your family vacation. If you are getting tired from your trip, you will have time to take a nap during the train ride from Rome to Venice.
When you arrive in Venice, you will take a water taxi to your hotel. After you have checked in, it will be time to head out on a gondola ride. This is a perfect time to take in the sights of the city, while relaxing. You can capture pictures along the way, or simply take it all in without distractions. Totally up to you!
You may have had a glimpse of Venice from your gondola ride yesterday, but today will have you out exploring the rest of the city.
