Sedona is a beautiful area, and you will love exploring it during your next family vacation. At night, after the sun has set, those large open spaces are perfect for gazing up at the stars in the sky. Since there are not too many bright lights throughout this part of the state, the stars will appear even brighter and bigger as you look at them. Best Places to Go Stargazing in Sedona

Fay Canyon Trailhead

You won’t want to go hiking on this trail at night, but if you walk along the trail just a few feet, you will have the perfect views of the nighttime sky and the stars that are everywhere.

Bear Mountain Trailheads

The parking lot at these trailheads is perfect for stargazing, and the views before it gets dark will be amazing as well, with all the red rocks around you.

Boynton Canyon Trailhead

If you plan your hike right, you can end this six-mile hike with a view of the stars from your vehicle in the parking lot.

Centennial Trail

The Centennial Trail is only a mile in length, and it is easy to do at night if you have a flashlight with you. While you may be tempted to skip the trail and look at the stars from your vehicle, I recommend that you don’t do that. The reason for this is at the end of the trail; you will see more stars than you can count from the overlook area.

Merry-Go-Round Rock by Schnebly Hill Road

You will need to drive a little to reach this area for stargazing, but it will be well worth it when you do not see any light other than what is coming from the stars above. Once you park your vehicle in the parking area, you can walk a little bit away from the road until you find the perfect spot for stargazing.

Jordan Trailhead Observing Area

You will find this stargazing observation area near the Jordan Trailhead, which is at the end of West Park Ridge Drive. There is a large field at the end of the road, and this is where you will park your car to look up at the stars.
