Does your family love thrilling adventures? Do you all love to strap on hiking boots and get out in nature? Well, if you answered yes to both those questions, I have a few Patagonia hikes for your family vacation! Patagonia is known as a hiker’s dream destination. This area, between Chile and Argentina, is also known for its national parks and glistening glaciers. As you hike these challenging trails, you will be amazed at the unique landscapes you see. You may even finally realize why they call Patagonia, The End of the World. Choose an adventure on the hiking trails in Patagonia today and make those memories with your family you will never forget.
The Cerro Guanaco Trail is five miles long. It is a one-way hike that will take you from the Alakush Visitor Center to the top of the mountain. It normally takes people approximately eight hours to complete this hike.
One of the quicker and easier Patagonia hikes is the Perito Moreno Ice Hike. This hike is an excellent way to see the Perito Moreno Glacier. This hike may be six miles long, but it only takes approximately two and a half hours to complete. Maybe a little longer if you get caught up taking pictures.
The Sierra Valdivieso Circuit is one of the longest hikes in Patagonia. This hike is thirty miles long. It is within the Ushuaian area. If you decide to tackle this hike with your family, you will be in the Andean mountains for a total of four days.
The long journey is worth it, though, with sights that include Valle Carbajal, Lago Fagnano, and Sierra Valdivieso.
If you don’t want a thirty-mile hike, you can always tackle the twenty-nine-mile hike of the Nahuel Huapi Traverse with your family! But this one will take you five days to complete. This hiking trail will take your family through the Nahuel Huapi National Park. Some of the most amazing landscapes within Patagonia can be found within this national park.
And if you don’t want to do this hike at all, and I won’t blame you if you don’t, you can do the driving option. Hop into a car and go along Ruta 40 from Esquel to Bariloche. You can still see the same incredible views.
A much more relaxing hike is the Laguna Esmeralda Hike in Patagonia. This six-mile hike takes you to the lagoon. Most people complete the hike in four hours. However, that is dependent on how many times you stop to check out the foliage and wildlife.
Another short five-mile hike will take you to Martial Glacier. You will find this hiking trail in the middle of an area known as the Land of Fire. It is a wonderful hike to take when you want views of the Beagle Channel and Ushuaia. This hike only takes about three hours. So that will leave you with plenty of time to do something else one day.
Mount Fitz Roy is one of the tallest peaks in Patagonia. This is why you may only make it to the base camp when you tackle this hike. Not too many people continue any further to Laguna de Los Tres or the Piedras Blancas Glacier.
The entire hike is twenty-six miles in total. This hike is very steep, and there is more climbing than hiking. Basically, you must be an avid hiker and outdoors person to tackle this adventure in Patagonia.
These are the Patagonia hikes you should consider on your next family vacation. There are many others, but these are the most popular ones. Most of them will require you to have a guide with you the entire time. I can arrange for you to take one of these guided hikes when I plan your family vacation in Patagonia.
