Africa is a country known for its safaris. But did you know that you can completely skip safaris and enjoy the rest of the beauty within this country? There are plenty of gorgeous African destinations to choose from for your family vacation. Your family will love stopping in charming towns. Relaxing and swimming at beaches. And exploring the major cities. The choice is always yours when I am personalizing your family trip to Africa. Today, I am sharing the most gorgeous African destinations with you. At least one should pique your interest when it comes to making memories with your family.

Victoria Falls 

Victoria Falls is known as the Smoke that Thunders by the locals. This is due to the massive amounts of water that flows over the falls. A hike near these falls will have your family seeing this magical wonder up close.  

You all may want to stand there for hours, as you watch the water crash into the gorge below.  

Cirque de Mafate  

Over in Reunion, your family can hike to the beautiful Cirque de Mafate. This area is what was left behind by the collapsed Piton des Neiges.  

Of course, if you don’t want to hike to this collapsed volcano, you can always take a helicopter ride to see it from above.  

Dead Vlei 

Don’t let the name of this African destination scare you away in Namibia. This is one of the most Instagram-worthy destinations in Africa. The camel thorn trees look like skeletons. The white clay leads to terracotta sand. If you arrive at the right time of day, it will all appear to glow until the brightly lit sky.  

Bazaruto Archipelago 

If your family decides to spend part of your vacation in Mozambique, you must head to the beach. Bazaruto Archipelago is the best beach in the area. The sparkling water laps up onto the sand. This is a wonderful spot for seeing sea turtles and dugongs while swimming.  

Ngorongoro Crater 

I know I mentioned that you didn’t need to head out on safari while in Africa for your family vacation. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check out the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.  

I recommend going to the top of the access road. From there, you can see views of the entire crater. And if you want to see the wildlife in this area, head down into the crater. That is where you will see the animals that live down in the base.  

Avenue of the Baobabs 

One of the most beautiful African destinations is the Avenue of the Baobabs. You will find this stunning area in Madagascar.  

Lemurs live within these trees. It would be best to have me arrange for a safari in this area, so you can see the lemurs up close.  

La Digue 

Seychelles is comprised of numerous islands. If you are searching for the most charming one for your family trip, I recommend La Digue.  

During your stay, you can ride a bike along the coastline. This ride will take you to all the different beaches. Keep an eye out for tortoises during your ride though. They love to block the road! 

Chefchaouen 

Chefchaouen is a colorful town in Morocco. Most travelers are unaware of this town, because they focus on the more popular towns of Fe and Marrakesh.  

If you want to escape the massive crowds during a vacation in Morocco, I recommend heading here. I guarantee you will spend most of your time making memories amongst the colorful walls of the buildings.  

Stone Town 

Stone Town is a magnificent town located on the island of Zanzibar. The mansions on this island were constructed out of soft coral stone. Those mansions are protected by thick wooden doors.  

During your family vacation, you can wander along the labyrinth of streets. Make sure you check out the different merchants you discover along the way. You never know what treasures you may find.  

Uganda’s Tea Country 

Not too many people think of tea when they think of Uganda. However, this country has quite a few lush farms that grow tea leaves. Capture some of the picturesque farms on your camera, so you don’t forget about the memories you made along the way.
