The town of Provincetown can be found at the very tip of Cape Cod. The location of this destination makes it the perfect vacation spot for families like yours. Especially if you are looking for sun, sand, sparkling water, and a plethora of things to do. However, with so much to do, you must plan your itinerary carefully if you want to fit everything into your memorable vacation!
Purchasing souvenirs is something everyone does when they are on vacation. However, when you are visiting Provincetown, I recommend choosing a piece of art for your souvenir. You will find plenty of options at the Impulse Art Gallery. Everything inside is either created by local artists or the art was inspired by the landscape of the area. In addition to paintings, you will discover ceramics, jewelry, and numerous glass creations.
The Provincetown Theater used to be known as the Provincetown Theatre Workshop when it was founded back in 1963. The name and location changed over the years. However, this group found a permanent home in 2004. A visit to this theater will have you watching plays. You may even catch dance performances or get to listen to staged readings. The theater is also the host of many festivals throughout the year. I suggest you plan your trip according to their schedule.
The most popular museum in Cape Cod is the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. There are twenty-five hundred items within the permanent collection, and they are all used within the forty different rotating exhibits throughout the year. This museum was founded back in 1914 and while it focused on pieces by local artists in the beginning, it has expanded its collection since that time.
There is so much to explore on the MacMillan Pier, so you will want to add a few hours into your itinerary for your visit. As you are walking along, you will see the harbormaster’s office, art shacks, and many other buildings. This is also the area where you can almost all of Provincetown, as well as the three lighthouses located on the Cape Cod National Seashore.
The Race Point Lighthouse is not that far from Race Point Beach, so make sure you add both to your itinerary for the same day. The lighthouse was constructed back in 1816 and it has been recently restored so it looks just as amazing. The best time to visit this area is as the sun is setting, but no matter when you visit, you will have the chance to see whales out in the water.
These are the five best things to see in Provincetown, but there are so many other things you can add to your itinerary. Let me help you create the perfect Provincetown itinerary, so your entire family will have a blast on your next vacation. I know how important family vacations are, so let’s make this one to remember!
