Wyoming is a vast state filled with wide open spaces and a bright blue sky. There are plenty of cities and towns to visit in this state. A few of them will transport your family back in time, while others will give you a glimpse of the future. Your family may not find all the glitz and glamour of other big cities in Wyoming. But you will discover your love of the great outdoors, while making memories with your family that will last a lifetime.
Okay, so skiing in Jackson Hole is only a winter family activity in Wyoming. But planning your visit during the right time of the year will have you skiing down some incredible slopes. Of course, skiing isn’t the only fun family adventure in Jackson Hole. You can also enjoy a covered wagon cookout after a day on the slopes.
Old Faithful is the geyser that seems to be on everyone’s travel bucket list. So, why not check that item off when you take a family vacation in Wyoming?! You can drive to see Old Faithful, or you can spend the day hiking nearby trails.
There are two large national parks in Wyoming, and both are amazing. You can hike the trails at each park. I recommend hiking along the shoreline of Jenny Lake when visiting Grand Teton National Park. You can also choose to board the boat shuttle to go over to Inspiration Point and Hidden Falls.
Have your kids ever wondered what it would be like to live and work at a farm? Or have you? Well, you can get your wish when you decide to stay at a dude ranch for your next activity to do in Wyoming. When you are not helping out with small chores, you will find yourselves horseback riding, fishing, and sitting by a campfire.
The Old Trail Town looks exactly like an authentic western town. You will find this town over in Cody, Wyoming. You can wander around the dirt roads to see historic cabins, homesteads, storefronts, and even a saloon or two. The kids will love the covered wagons in the middle of the town.
Okay, so the kids may not want to spend their day at a hot spring. But they won’t be able to resist a day at Thermopolis. This fun-filled hot spring pool complex can be found within Hot Springs State Park. There are indoor and outdoor pools, as well as slides, a diving board, and an adults-only sauna.
There are plenty of water activities at Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The all-time favorite family activity to do in Wyoming though is parasailing. Imagine seeing the gorge from a different perspective, as you glide high above the water.
Sometimes you simply need an hour or two of downtime when you are on a family vacation. When you take a vacation in Wyoming, the perfect place to go for downtime is the Cheyenne Botanic Garden. Your visit can be spent walking past the plants, trees, and shrubs near the pathways. Or you can relax by the pond, as you recharge.
The walkway above the Buffalo Bill Dam is two hundred eighty feet above the Shoshone River. Yes, the height may feel intimidating. But doing something like this as a family will be so worthwhile.
There aren’t too many rodeos left in the world, so you might as well attend one during a family vacation in Wyoming. You can watch the professionals ride the bulls and be thankful you are not out in the ring. Or, if you attend Cheyenne Frontier Days, you can get in on the action yourself.
These are some of the top family activities to do in Wyoming during a family vacation. I can’t wait to hear which one is at the top of your list.
