Lanai is one of the forgotten Hawaiian Islands since there aren’t as many touristy things to do there. Since so many people forget that they could still have an amazing time exploring the island of Lanai, no one really knows about the incredible beaches on the island. And it is those beaches in Lanai that really turn this island into a family vacation destination. Although to me, all the Hawaiian Islands are special. So, if you are looking for a one-of-a-kind family vacation this year, you should give all the Hawaiian Islands a little thought. You may even decide that the island of Lanai is the one your family really needs.
Kaiolohia Bay Beach is also known as Shipwreck Beach. This beach received this name thanks to the giant ship that wrecked just off the shoreline. The water is not that calm at this beach on Lanai. Therefore, swimming is not recommended. But you can spend hours walking along the shoreline as you look out towards the spooky wreck in the ocean.
This is one of the most secluded beaches in Lanai. The only way to reach this beach is via a 4×4 on a bumpy trail or by boat. Your time on this beach in Lanai can be spent wondering what it was like when the old Club Lanai Hotel was located there. This is the perfect destination if your family is craving solitude during this time away from home.
Polihua Beach is another one of the secluded beaches in Lanai. The journey to this beach is treacherous. So, your family probably shouldn’t go if anyone is afraid of heights or dangerous twists and turns on the road. However, if you can make it to this beach, you will all be rewarded with gorgeous views. Just don’t try swimming at this beach once you get there. The currents are really strong, and no one is around for miles to offer assistance.
Hulopo’e Bay Beach Park is the most popular beach on the island of Lanai. You will find this beach directly behind the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay. It is the easiest beach to get to, so everyone seems to arrive there on really nice days. Thankfully, this island doesn’t get packed like the other islands. So, even on a busy day, you won’t feel like this beach in Lanai is overcrowded.
As you can see, there aren’t as many beaches in Lanai as the other Hawaiian Islands. But the beaches located on Lanai are filled with potential. As long as your family doesn’t mind climbing into a 4×4 for a little adventure to reach some of these beaches in Lanai, your possibilities for a day in the sun are endless.
