Savannah is overflowing with Southern charm, cobblestone streets, and just the right touch of magic. While you could happily wander for weeks uncovering all its hidden gems, most of us don’t have that kind of time (as much as we wish we did!). That’s why I’ve put together a list of the best places to see in Savannah. Perfect for squeezing the most out of your getaway. Whether you’re planning a quick weekend escape or a weeklong family vacation, these must-see spots will help you make the most of every moment. And create some unforgettable memories along the way.
There are twenty-two squares in Savannah. So, I understand if you simply cannot see them all. But you must take the time to see Chippewa Square.
This square was designed in 1815. It is home to the historic Savannah Theatre, which is one of the oldest theaters in the country.
This square has always been popular. The movie, Forrest Gump, turned this square into a tourist attraction.
You will want to take a few family photos while visiting one of the best places to see in Savannah.
Don’t forget to check out Savannah’s River Walk during your family vacation.
The Tybee Island Lighthouse dates back to 1736. The tower of the lighthouse is 145 feet tall.
There are three Light Keeper’s Cottages near the lighthouse. As well as the Summer Kitchen. The kitchen was constructed in 1812. You will find many archeological items within the Summer Kitchen.
In addition to seeing the buildings mentioned above, you will also want to see the Tybee Museum in Battery Garland.
I recommend visiting the Tybee Island Lighthouse during one of the days you spend at Tybee Beach. After all, we know the beach is always a popular place during family vacations. Especially when Tybee Beach is one of the best places to see in Savannah!

Fort Pulaski is a mason fortification that is located on Cockspur Island. This fort was used during the Civil War. But it was also used as a prisoner of war camp.
Take one of the guided tours during your visit or simply start wandering around on your own. There are eleven different stops in all on the tour. But the ones you should pay the most attention to include the Visitor Center, Cemetery, John Wesley Monument, Contraband Camp, North Pier, and the Cockspur Island Lighthouse.
The Bonaventure Cemetery is located on the Bonaventure Plantation. While this was originally a private cemetery in 1846, it became public in 1907.
Notable people are buried in this cemetery. Which is why so many families add it to their list of best places to see in Savannah. But you will also visit for the architecture and sculptures. As well as the old trees that line the roads.
This cemetery is featured in the book, and movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
