Are you currently dreaming of gorgeous sunsets at the end of warm summer days? I know I am! And since I have been dreaming about those sunsets, I thought it would be best to find some of the best sunset destinations in the US. Now, I can’t write about every picture-perfect place to watch a sunset in the US. However, I am going to share a few of my favorite places to watch the setting sun with my family. Trust me when I say you will make quite a few magical memories with your kids at this time of day.  

Best Sunset Destinations in the US 

Hopi Point in Arizona 

It shouldn’t be surprising that an area of the Grand Canyon makes it to the top of this list of places to watch the sunset in the US. If you have been searching for the best sunset destination in the US, Hopi Point is it. This area is on the South Rim of the canyon.  

There is a fenced viewing area for safety. It does get crowded here. Especially during the summer months. I recommend arriving early to find the best viewing spot. And then spend a little extra time afterward looking at the stars in the sky.  

Sunset Beach in Hawaii 

Sunset Beach can be found on the northern shore of Oahu. If a beach has a name like this, you know it must be the perfect place to watch a sunset. You can spend all day at this beach or arrive for the grand finale of the day. It’s up to you. Just don’t wait until the last minute or you may miss all the spectacular colors in the sky.  

Key West in Florida 

Another magical spot to watch the sunset in Key West. Everyone seems to gather in Mallory Square to watch the sun setting over the water. While you wait, you can watch the street performers or listen to live music.  

If you don’t want to be with tons of people, I can arrange for a sunset cruise. There will be fewer people on the boat, so you won’t miss a moment of the action.  

Denali National Park in Alaska 

Watching the sunset in Alaska can be challenging. Some days, the sun doesn’t come out at all. Other days offer twenty-four hours of sunlight. If you want the best views of the sunset, head over to Wonder Lake. The setting sun reflects in the water, creating perfect pictures.  

Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York 

You might think that stunning sunsets aren’t possible in big cities like New York City. You can find them, though, as long as you know where to look. If you want to see the best sunset in New York City, I recommend heading over to Brooklyn Bridge Park.  

You will find this park directly on the East River. Spread a blanket out on the lawn and enjoy as the sun dips below the skyscrapers.  

Clingman’s Dome in Tennessee 

Clingman’s Dome is located in the Smoky Mountains. It isn’t the tallest mountain in the Smoky Mountains. However, it is the tallest mountain in the state of Tennessee. You can choose to either hike or drive to the summit of this mountain.  

Driving down in the dark isn’t too bad. Hiking down the steep trail can be tricky if you are not prepared with the proper equipment. I do recommend waiting for the entire sunset to finish, so be prepared for whichever option you choose to reach the bottom.  

These are the best sunset destinations in the US. You probably have others you would add to this list. However, if you haven’t been to these sunset destinations, visit them first. Then you can decide which sunset destination in the US is your all-time favorite.
