The natural beauty of Kauai is enough to draw anyone there for a fabulous vacation. After all, who can resist exploring the Na Pali Coast, swimming in the ocean, and relaxing on the beach? There is so much more to the island of Kauai, though. When you decide that your next family vacation must be on Kauai, I can help you find some of the best adventures. One of those adventures can be exploring the island and finding some of the best waterfalls on Kauai.
One of the most spectacular waterfalls in Kauai happens to be Wailua Falls. You can see this waterfall from the comfort of your car. Honestly, though, I know you want to feel the mist on your face, so it is best to walk towards the waterfall. If this waterfall in Kauai looks familiar, it is because it was filmed for the original Fantasy Island television show. You can easily visit Wailua Falls at any time of the day. I prefer to check this waterfall on Kauai out early in the morning, though. That is when a pretty rainbow forms, as the mist flies everywhere.
This is another waterfall in Kauai that you can see from your car. It is best to make the thirty-minute hike along the trail, though, so you can see this waterfall up close. There are two tiers to Opaekaa Falls. I recommend taking a picnic lunch or snack with you, so you can enjoy the view of the falls while you eat.
Depending on where you stay while on vacation in Kauai, you may be really close to Hoolea Falls. This waterfall can be found directly behind Kalalau Beach. The water from the falls runs down a volcanic rock wall. As a parent, I recommend you scope out the area first before taking your children to see this waterfall. It is common for the locals in this area to show a little too much skin as they are enjoying the water from the falls.
A trip to Hanakapiai Beach must include a hike to the waterfall of the same name. The four-mile round trip trail to this waterfall is moderately difficult, thanks to potentially slippery conditions. The scenery during your hike will be amazing, though. And you will love swimming in the pool under the waterfall when you arrive at your destination.
The rushing water of Kalihiwai Falls is surrounded by a lush forest. While you can drive to this waterfall in Kauai, your family may prefer hiking or horseback riding there instead. This is a multi-tiered waterfall, so make sure you take pictures from multiple angles for the best memories.
This massive waterfall is very difficult to reach from land. There are no trails to follow at all. Therefore, it is best to have me secure a helicopter tour that will take you directly over this waterfall in Kauai.
Uluwehi Falls can be found on the Wailua River. This waterfall is commonly called the Secret Falls because the area is quite secluded. Hopefully, your family is up to the challenge of reaching this waterfall if you add it to your list of things to do in Kauai. Your journey will begin with a fifty-minute kayak ride and end with a thirty-minute strenuous and challenging hike complete with drops. This adventure is only for those who are used to difficult hiking trails.
These are some of the best waterfalls on Kauai. You may not want to have them all on your list of things to do for your next family vacation in Kauai. However, I know at least one or two will make your list.
