Summer break can be fun and exciting for both kids and parents. The kids get a slightly laidback schedule since school is not in session. And parents can choose to take time off from work if they can and spend a little extra time with their kids. Of course, the best way to spend time with the kids is by leaving home and heading out on an amazing family vacation! There are so many destinations to choose from, so I know there are at least a few every member of your household will agree on. To get you started, I am going to share my top ten family vacation destinations.
No one said you need to stick close to home when you decide to take a family vacation for summer break! Any of the Fijian Islands out in the Pacific would be perfect for a little fun in the sun. There are plenty of family activities in Fiji to choose from. However, I recommend you spend a good amount of time out in the water swimming near the coral reefs. You may even want to choose to take a kayaking or bamboo raft tour during your visit.
The summer months in the US coincides with the winter months in Sydney, Australia. You shouldn’t let the cooler weather stop you from visiting the land down under though. Exploring the Sydney attractions should always be at the top of your list of things to do. But the kids may prefer to take surf lessons over on Bondi Beach or climb the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Okay, so if you do not want to venture too far away from home for your family vacation during summer break, the sandy shoreline of Hilton Head will be waiting. Days on the beach are a must during the summer. But I also recommend heading out on the fifty miles of trails to explore by bike. Your family will also love spending time out on a boat in the water. The dolphin tours are fun in Hilton Head, but you will love the time you are out on a paddleboard as well.
It does get hot in Grand Cayman during the summer months, but that is why so many families like yours simply spend their days in, or on, the water. Snorkeling is the family activity of choice in the Caymans. Your family will want to grab their gear and head into the water to swim with the stingrays whenever possible. And if your kids can’t get enough of the marine life, the Cayman Turtle Centre is the perfect place to swim in a lagoon with the green sea turtles.
It is all about the great outdoors during a vacation in Jordan during summer break. The Dead Sea contains water that is thirty-four percent salinity. Therefore, you won’t really need to know how to swim to keep your head above water. Everyone in your family will love exploring the archaeological site of Petra. Although I will admit, this area is best seen from the back of a camel. Jeep tours are also a fun way to explore. You can bounce over the sand dunes, as you all see sights like the Burdah Rock Bridge.
The water surrounding Portugal is always cold, even in the middle of the summer. So, instead of planning a beach vacation filled with lots of time in the water, you will want to focus on other things to do in Portugal. I recommend taking a boat trip out to the Benagil sea cave. Or having a few laughs, as you all conquer the thrilling rides at Zoomarine.
Morocco is an ideal family vacation destination, especially if you choose to spend most of your time in Marrakech. This busy city is filled with souks, so your days can be filled with shopping adventures. You will all find yourselves watching snake charmers, monkey trainers, and other entertainers who are performing on the streets. And when you are ready to escape the city for a few hours, the camels will take you through the palm groves at sunset.
The summer months may be warm back home, but it is still the perfect time to hit the slopes in the Swiss Alps. If your family can never seem to find the time for a ski vacation during the winter, this is the best option for skiing during the summer. And if your family doesn’t love to ski, you can always hike and eat a ton of Swiss chocolate.
It is also cooler in Banff, Canada in the summer. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t explore and have a few family adventures there! All you need to do is throw on an extra layer and enjoy this time with the kids. You can make memories on the Banff Sightseeing Gondola or take a family sleigh ride through the Bow River Valley.
Cabo San Lucas is located on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Visiting this area during the summer will mean missing out on the whale migration. But you can still have fun snorkeling and scuba diving in the Cabo San Lucas Marine Park. A few sea lions live there, and they love to play nearby snorkelers and divers in the water.
These are ten family vacations for summer break you should check out. Each one offers something different, so you can choose the perfect one for your family. And if you don’t think your next family vacation destination is on this list, no worries! I can help you find the best destination for your vacation.
