Music lovers enjoy spending time in concert halls, or anywhere else music is playing. When you decide to plan a family vacation, you may want to consider visiting a music city. This type of city will fulfill your music lovers’ wish to enjoy music. Plus, I can make sure everyone else in your family has a few things they enjoy doing in between musical adventures. I can’t think of a better way to make memories as a family during a little time away from home.
Pubs, beer, and the Cliffs of Mohr are all well-known things about Ireland. However, did you know that Dublin is a music city your family won’t be able to resist?
Music plays inside every single pub in Dublin. Simply enter a pub, and you will hear notes playing in the background. If you want the best pub for music, head to The Brazen Head. They’ve been playing music since they opened in 1198. Although, their current building was only built in 1754.
Other pubs you will love include The Temple Bar and O’Donoghues.
Music is huge in Colombia, but especially so in Cali. This is the third largest city in the country. The most popular music is played at faster speeds than intended. It is that speed that makes it perfect for Colombia’s salsa dancing.
I recommend taking a vacation in Colombia if your family loves music and salsa dancing!
Reggae has long been the music of choice in Jamaica. Bob Marley was the person who began this genre of music. The music has outlived him and will continue to do so long into the future. During a visit to Kingston, you can wander through the museum that was once Bob Marley’s home.
At night, spend a little time at Dub Club. This club is in St. Andrew. It is the best spot to dance to reggae music until it is time to retreat to your accommodations for the night.
Bagpipes can usually be heard throughout the countryside in Scotland. Not everyone loves the sound of bagpipes, which are part of the woodwind family. If you at least have an interest in bagpipes, visit The National Piping Centre in Glasgow. Before you leave, try playing the bagpipes and see if you have what it takes to make it sound beautiful.
You may want to tell your family to cover their ears first, though! And you may want to do the same if the kids give it a try.
Zydeco is a blend of French accordion music and Afro-Caribbean influences. Add in a little hand clapping and foot stomping, and you have the original genre. Nowadays, this genre has continued to evolve. One of the only places you can hear this authentic music is in Opelousas, Louisiana.
The violin was created by Stradivari in Cremona, Italy. There are still more than one hundred violin makers in this city, not too far from Milan. I can arrange for you to meet with one of them to see the process of how violins are made.
I will also make sure you have time to explore the city’s museum to see the rarest violins.
Country music is everywhere in Nashville. This city is also known as Music City. A visit to this country’s music destination should always include stops at the Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry. Of course, you also have the Country Music Hall of Fame and museums dedicated to all the best country music singers.
Your time in Nashville will be spent wandering around and visiting all those attractions. However, it will be your time in the bars along Broadway that will really have your toes tapping as the honky-tonk music plays in the background.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg. That alone makes this quite the music city. Upon your arrival, you should take the time to explore his first home, which is now a museum. Inside, you can see Mozart’s personal violin and clavichord.
Another wonderful opportunity in Salzburg is visiting all the filming sites from the Sound of Music. At the end of one of the tours, you can learn how to yodel. This is definitely something that will come in handy in the future! Especially when the family is annoying you, and you want to get them to stop.
These are the best music cities to consider for your next family vacation. All music lovers, and non-music lovers, will find something exciting to do in these music cities. Plus, you really don’t need to love all types of music to appreciate the time and dedication that has gone into creating music over the years.
