If you were to try to determine how many beaches there are in the US, you could struggle to find the time to do all the research. After all, almost every state has dozens, if not hundreds of beaches. You may even have a beach within an hour of your home. However, there is nothing better than escaping for a few days each summer, as a family, and heading to the beach. The soft sand is perfect for relaxing, having fun, and making those memories that matter with your family. Today, I am sharing the best US beach towns for summer family vacations. One of them might be exactly where you want to consider if you still haven’t planned this year’s family vacation at the beach. And if you have this year’s vacation all planned out, you may just get a head start on next year!
Block Island is located just off the shore of the US. It is considered part of Rhode Island. You must take a thirty-minute ferry ride to reach this US beach town.
There are plenty of fantastic bed and breakfasts on Block Island. During your family vacation, you can ride bikes or mopeds and explore the area. You may even want to check out the Southeast Light Lighthouse.
Oh, and don’t worry about dining. There are at least forty restaurants with delicious cuisine waiting for you.
If you read Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry as a child, you may get a little teary eyed when thinking about finally vacationing on this island or Assateague Island.
A family vacation on Chincoteague Island will have you avoiding the crowds at Virginia Beach. Your days can be spent fishing, boating, and finding clams and crabs for dinner. Or you can head to a local restaurant for some of the best seafood dishes on the East Coast.
Of course, you will also want to check out the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge to see the wild ponies that live on the island.
This charming US beach town is part of Cape Cod. During the day, your family can relax at South Beach, visit the Chatham Lighthouse, and walk through the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge.
And if your family loved watching the Jaws movies, you can learn all about sharks at the Chatham Shark Center. There are plenty of exhibits to see, including one about the fisherman who Quint was based on in the movie.
The ocean boardwalk is a popular place to be in Point Pleasant Beach in New Jersey. However, this US beach town doesn’t have massive crowds like Ocean City, Maryland or Myrtle Beach.
Depending on when you visit, you may have the chance to check out an arts festival or shop at sidewalk sales. No matter when you visit though, the amusement park rides, and aquarium will always be waiting for you.
The downtown area of Pacific Grove is an excellent place to spend time when you are not at the beach. Wander around to do a little shopping or grab a bite to eat.
When you are near the water, head out on a kayak or learn how to scuba dive. Just make sure you take a little time to explore the Point Pinos Lighthouse. It is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the entire West Coast.
The last of the best US beach towns is Cannon Beach in Oregon. You will find the Marine Garden here, as well as Haystack Rock.
A walk around town will have you exploring art galleries. Head to the spa for a few incredible treatments while the kids play in the sand. And don’t forget to check out the marine life in the water.
These are the US beach towns you may want to consider for your summer family vacation. There are plenty of other beach towns in the US and you can easily choose one of those too. I can help you determine which US beach town is best for your family vacation, as I am personalizing your family vacation itinerary. All I need to know is what your family is interested in doing to make memories together while away from home.
