Escaping on a vacation in Switzerland will allow your family to make such precious memories together. This time away from home will have you all out exploring nature. Eating delicious local cuisine. And experiencing the culture this country is known for. Add in thrilling family adventures and you may find yourself wishing you had taken more time off to spend in this beautiful country. Today, I am going to share an example of what your family can do during an eight-day vacation in Switzerland. Your family’s itinerary doesn’t need to look like this one. I can easily personalize your itinerary, so it includes all the adventures your family wants to do.
Your vacation in Switzerland will begin as soon as you land at the airport in Zurich. Your private driver will meet you at the airport. They will transport you to your hotel in Lucerne. The trip to the hotel should take less than an hour.
At your hotel, you can check in and then wander around to see what amenities are available to you. You may even want to venture out and start seeing the sights in this gorgeous city.
Hopefully your family managed to get a good night’s sleep after a long day of travel. You will need the rest, as you are out exploring Lucerne on day two of your vacation in Switzerland.
Your day will begin with a walk across Chapel Bridge. This bridge was constructed back in the 14th century. You will then cross the Mill Bridge to see the Dance of Death paintings.
Other sights you will see on this day include the Musegg Wall, Town Hall, and the Lion Monument. If your family is interested, a visit to the Swiss Transport Museum can be arranged as well.
The one stop you won’t want to miss on this incredible day is the Max Chocolatier facilities. You can tour the facilities where they make the chocolate. And then taste as much of it as you want at the end. If your family has a sweet tooth, you may want to plan to spend more time at Max Chocolatier than anywhere else in this city!
Day three of your Switzerland family vacation will be a travel day. You will board a train to travel from Lucerne to St. Moritz. It will take approximately four hours for this journey.
You will have the entire afternoon to explore St. Moritz on your own.
Unfortunately, some of the best cities in Switzerland are quite far from each other. Therefore, today will also be spent on a train, as you travel from St. Moritz to Zermatt.
This eight-hour journey will take you through the breathtaking Swiss countryside. The train will pass over more than two hundred bridges. It will also go through ninety-one tunnels. The highlight will be when you are going over the Oberalp Pass. This is an excellent way to see the Swiss Alps during your family vacation.
Not sure if Switzerland is the best vacation option for your family? Maybe you would all love to visit some of the best fairy tale castles in the world instead!
The activities you do in Zermatt will depend on the time of the year you vacation in Switzerland. During the winter months, your family can ski or snowboard up in the mountains. If you happen to arrive when there is no snow, you can easily hike one of the trails.
After a fun day in the mountains, you will be more than ready to head to Geneva. After your train ride, your family will want to stretch their legs a bit. You can wander around the Patek Philippe Museum. Or you can simply walk along the streets, while doing a little souvenir shopping.
It is getting close to the end of your family vacation in Switzerland. This is the day to make some of those final memories together. You know, the memories you will talk about during the next holiday and all future holidays.
Today will be spent near the shores of Lake Leman. You will see the world’s tallest fountain, Jet d’Eau.
Over in Old Town, you will see St. Peter’s Cathedral, Halle de Rive, and Place Neuve. If you didn’t do enough shopping the day before, you can head to the shopping district in Geneva.
You will find plenty of gifts to take back home. I highly recommend stocking up on chocolate. Especially the Pavés de Genève. These are yummy and you will definitely need more than you think. If you don’t purchase enough, I guarantee they will be gone before your plane even touches the ground back home.
Your family vacation in Switzerland is over and it will be time to head to the airport. You may have time to go on one last walk through the streets of Geneva before you go. Use the time to take family pictures, grab a little extra chocolate, and embrace the memories you have all made together.
Eight days in Switzerland can be magical for families like yours. Your time in this spectacular country can be completely different than what I have described here. I can easily personalize your itinerary, so it includes all the activities and attractions your family wants to do and see. We can discuss the possibilities when we chat.
