There are plenty of best ski destinations in the US. But did you know that you can travel to multiple international ski destinations for your next family ski vacation? If you are looking for a few new ski slopes to try out, you may simply need to fly a little further than you are used to. This may seem like a little more work, but I can assure you it is not. And besides, you must consider all those new memories you can make with your kids, as you are seeing new destinations for the first time.
There are a couple different Club Med Ski Resorts around the world, but trust me when I say your family will love the new Club Med Ski Resort in Quebec, Canada. The location of this ski destination is perfect. As your family skis, you can enjoy looking at the stunning St. Lawrence River. There are ski trails for all levels, so beginner skiers will have plenty of options during your family ski vacation. And don’t worry, the Triple Black Diamond Trail is exactly what the experts crave on the slopes. There is also a very long sled run for those who want to do a little sledding.
And when your family is done with the skis for the day, you can all venture down to the charming village of Baie St. Paul or over to La Malbaie. Each area offers fun activities for families who are tired from a day of skiing.
Over in Whistler, your family will have more than 200 ski trails to choose from when you hit the slopes. Skiing in this part of the world normally lasts for between five and six months, so you won’t need to stress if your family vacation falls outside the normal skiing dates of other ski destinations. When your family is not on the slopes, you can all head down to Whistler Village. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to enjoy. Just make sure you also check out the Olympic Plaza.
Not many people think to fly to Austria for a ski vacation. However, if you are looking for a family friendly destination, this will check off all the boxes! This large ski area gets tons of snow each year, which is perfect if you want to experience authentic winter, both on and off the slopes. And while I said that this is a family friendly destination, it is also an excellent option for romantic vacations and girlfriend getaways.
Japan is another country that is never on a person’s ski vacation radar. But if your family loves culture, as much as skiing, Niseko should be on your skiing bucket list. Your family will find lots of cuisine options when you are not on the slopes.
As we are planning your family ski vacation in Niseko, we will want to determine whether it will be during the infamous Ski Week. It gets super busy during this week, and the party atmosphere may not be what you are looking for during your family vacation. Although, if it is, let me know and I will make sure to book your ski vacation during that time!
The beauty of Lapland will take your breath away the moment you arrive. While you may think you are going for the skiing, your family will start to request to do many of the other things this ski destination is known for. Start the day early with hikes in the snow-covered woods. Experience the Sami culture before or after hitting the slopes. And end the day with the views of the Northern Lights.
One of the best parts of taking a family ski vacation in Lapland is you can actually stay in an igloo. This unique accommodation will definitely be part of future conversations, as you relive this family vacation.
Who doesn’t have conquering the Matterhorn on their skiing bucket list??
In case you are not familiar with the Matterhorn, it is a 15,000-foot-high mountain in Switzerland. This mountain offers year-round skiing. That is perfect if you can’t get away for a family ski vacation during normal ski dates. While the skiing is fabulous in this part of the world, there is one other thing your family will love more. The train, Gornergrat Bahn, that takes you all the way up the mountain is an experience you will not want to miss.
Imagine skiing under a sunny sky with your family during a ski vacation in Italy. It is completely possible when you choose Alta Badia as your next ski destination. There are 12 different areas to choose from for skiing. You must try them all before declaring your personal favorite. And if you are looking for a unique skiing vacation, I recommend participating in the ski safari. It is a six-day, seven-night guided tour throughout this region. Of course, if you are traveling without the kids, you may prefer the wine ski safari instead.
These are just a few of the international ski destinations you must consider for your next family ski vacation. There are others that we can discuss, as I am beginning to customize a ski vacation for your family.
