Do you love the crisp air you can breathe amongst the trees in the mountains? How about the tranquility without the crowds? If your family loves spending time in the mountains, that might be where your next family vacation should be based. Today, I am sharing some of the best mountain vacations. These destinations will allow you to spend time in nature, while you unplug a little and make a few memories.
You don’t need to leave the US to get some quality mountain time with your family. Mount Tallac is not too far from Lake Tahoe, which makes it easy to combine both destinations in one trip. However, you can easily spend your entire family vacation in Mount Tallac.
You can hike to the summit to see the Desolation Wilderness area. This area is comprised of Fallen Leaf Lake, Floating Island Lake, and Emerald Bay.
I do recommend only doing this hike if your family is experienced. The trail is quite difficult and can be tricky for novices.
The best time to take a mountain vacation here is between June and September. The rest of the year usually brings snow to this mountain.

You can’t go wrong when you decide to visit a national park like Zion for a mountain vacation! The natural landscapes within this park are simply magnificent. Within this park, you will discover Navajo sandstone cliffs that are two thousand feet tall. There are also sandstone canyons and plateaus to see from the numerous trails.
This mountain vacation destination is perfect for new and experienced hikers. There are trails for everyone.
Zion National Park does get extremely busy during the summer. And some trails are closed during the winter months. Keep all that in mind when you plan your mountain-filled family vacation.
Italy’s Dolomites often get overlooked when families like yours are planning mountain vacations. I’m not sure why though, because this mountainous region offers sixty miles of stunning peaks. You can hike to one of the summits. Or simply spend a little time looking at the mountains from a charming Alpine village. A couple of the favorite villages are Cortina D’Ampezzo and Bolzano.
History lovers will enjoy checking out the World War II bunkers, as well as trails that were used during the war.
These mountains are more than six thousand feet in elevation. However, it is around that elevation where you will find the sparkling Shirakoma Lake. It is best to vacation near this mountain during the fall. That is when the foliage from the trees reflects off this lake the best.
During your hike to the lake, you will pass by a moss forest. This unique forest is something that will turn your family vacation into one that you will remember for a lifetime.
These are some of the best mountain vacations you can take with your family. There are others though and I can help you find the destination that is perfect for your family as I personalize your next trip. After all, you want a region that has everything you are searching for, so you can make memories together.
