During the winter months, nothing beats the powdery fresh snow that falls at the local ski resorts in the US. At least, that’s the case if your family loves to ski! Heading to a local ski resort for the day or a long weekend is amazing. But what if you were to plan a family ski vacation at a luxury ski resort in the US? I bet your family would be thrilled with lots of time on the slopes. And you would be quite happy with the time you get to spend together, as you reconnect. So, let’s start talking about a few of the incredible luxury ski resorts for your next family vacation.
I am going to start with one of the luxury ski resorts a little closer to my home. Whiteface Lodge is tucked away in the Adirondack Mountains. The ambiance around the mountain is cozy and romantic. Yet, on the slopes, you will all feel the adrenaline rushing through your body. Lake Placid has held the Winter Olympic Games twice now, so you know the nearby ski trails are worthy of your time. At Whiteface Mountain, you can ski more than twenty-two miles of trails. Each trail offers something unique, whether you are a beginner or an expert.
At night, your family can relax in your suite, as a fire crackles in the fireplace. The suites may appear rustic at first glance, but the amenities and private balconies prove they are anything but. On the days you are not skiing, you can walk through town, head to the spa, or simply indulge in the food served at the Kanu Dining Room.
Out on the West Coast, there is nothing better than skiing with family in Lake Tahoe. And at the Ritz-Carlton, you can do just that with ease. Imagine walking out of your gorgeous room, putting on your skis, and taking advantage of the ski-in and ski-out privileges. While you may be on the slopes for most of your family vacation, do not be surprised if your kids want to ride the gondola from this resort into the Northstar Village. After all, plenty of entertainment and the ice-skating rink can be found within that village!
Part of the luxury experience at this ski resort in the US is the mountain concierge services and the après ski experiences. Add in the massive spa right next to the ski slopes and you may decide that you never want to return home.
Colorado is the one state that offers numerous luxury ski resorts in the US. If you have more than one week for your family ski vacation, I highly recommend doing a little ski resort hopping if possible. You can easily start your family adventures at the Viewline Resort Snowmass. This resort is right on the slopes, so your family will never need to venture far from your room to go skiing. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted with views of the slopes right in the lobby, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The rooms at this ski resort are perfect for families. However, you may find yourselves spending more time out on the terrace by the fire pits. And if your kids are old enough, they can stay in the room while you enjoy a few drinks at the Vue Lounge.
As a skier, I know you have heard of Vail. Maybe you have already skied on a few of the trails there. But have you ever stayed at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort? This luxury ski resort in the US offers sophisticated charm directly on the edge of the slopes within the White River National Forest. Your family can be skiing in minutes, thanks to the Eagle Bahn Gondola.
When you aren’t on the slopes, I recommend spending time at the heated outdoor pool or around one of the toasty fire pits. They are both perfect places for enjoying the ambiance of the area and the gorgeous mountain views.
While skiing is popular at this luxury ski resort, it is not the only action your family will see during your vacation. When you are not using the ski-in and ski-out access areas, you will find yourself participating in a backcountry dogsled ride or riding a snowmobile.
And if you want some downtime while the rest of the family is on the slopes, the Madeline Hotel has you covered. The spa is open daily, and it offers a multitude of treatments you will love.
Aspen is another popular skiing destination in Colorado. The St. Regis Aspen Resort is a five-star luxury ski resort that offers a warm environment. Your family will love the fireplace in your suite at the end of the day. However, you may prefer the peace and quiet you will find on your private balcony when everyone else is asleep.
The spa is another place to spend a little time during your family ski vacation. The kids can hit the slopes, while you relax during a massage or another treatment.
Surrounding Montage Deer Valley is more than two hundred acres of ski terrain. The ski-in and ski-out access is popular amongst all the guests. And you can utilize that feature to ski on any of the one hundred unique trails.
At the end of the day, you can venture over to the spa for a little downtime. Or you can send your kids and spouse off one day and enjoy an entire day being pampered.
These are a few of the luxury ski resorts in the US you must visit during your next family vacation. I would love to help you plan a family ski vacation at one of these ski resorts or somewhere else on your skiing bucket list.
