Does your family love seeing natural sights that look like something out of a storybook? Mother Nature has created some fabulous natural wonders around the world. Everyone will love seeing these magical wonders during a family vacation. Just maybe not for the same reason. It doesn’t matter the reason though. All that matters is the memories you will be making during your family adventure. Today, I am going to share some of the best magical wonders you can see during your next family vacation.
If you have never seen salt flats before, you must head to Bolivia for a family vacation. These are the largest salt flats in the world. They were created when a prehistoric lake dried up and left behind lots of white salt.
During the rainy season, the salt flats transform into a magnificent mirror. They reflect the sky and sun from above.
This Colombian River can be found deep in the Amazon. Over the years, the Caño Cristales River has earned the nickname, Rainbow River. This is due to the pinkish-red hue that combines with a bluish-green tint in the water. All those colors are created from the unique plant formations that grow on the riverbed.
The colors change throughout the year. The best time to check out this colorful river is between the months of July and November.
You don’t need to travel out of the US to experience this magical wonder. Sailing Stone Racetrack Playa can be found in Death Valley National Park. Trails are created by massive boulders that seem to move on their own. The trails will stay in place for a few years before completely disappearing. Then new trails will form.
Over on Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives, you can see some of the best bioluminescent waves in the world. These glowing waves are quite stunning and worth staying up late to see. The best time of the year to travel to the Maldives to see the bioluminescent waves is between July and February. It is even better if you arrive during a new moon.
There are plenty of minerals within Spotted Lake in British Columbia. Those minerals are known to possess healing qualities for people who enter the lake. However, during the summer months, Spotted Lake is known for so much more than healing. It is during those months that the minerals rise to the surface and create circles on top of the water. Those circles have rings of green, blue, and yellow. The intensity of the colors changes throughout the summer.
This is only one of the winter wonders you will discover in Canada. There are many others we can add to your family vacation itinerary!
During a family vacation in Patagonia, you can take the time to visit the Marble Caves. I recommend heading to these caves at sunrise or sunset for the best experience. That is when the rays of the sun will illuminate off the walls.
Getting to these caves isn’t simple. You must first take a two-and-a-half-hour plane ride from Santiago. Then sit in a vehicle for one hundred twenty miles until you reach the dock to climb onto the boat that will take you to the caves. It is definitely worth the journey though!
One of the most unique rock formations in the world is Giant’s Causeway. There are more than forty thousand black basalt stone columns right on the edge of the ocean. Those stone columns were created when volcanic activity was present in the area millions of years ago.
This is only one of the fantastic things you can do during a family vacation in Ireland.
Many people have heard about the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. However, did you know there are also Aurora Australis, which is basically Southern Lights? The former takes place in the northern hemisphere while the latter can be found in the southern hemisphere.
The Northern Lights can be seen from so many destinations. As for the Aurora in the southern Hemisphere? You can only see those while in Antarctica or a few spots in the Indian Ocean. And they don’t show up as often as the Northern Lights do.
Some of the largest crystals in the world can be found within the Cave of the Crystals in Naica, Mexico. Some of the crystals within this cave are approximately thirty-six feet tall. It is thought that many of the crystals have been growing for at least five hundred thousand years.
Unfortunately, you cannot see this cave in person. However, you can travel to New York City to see some of the crystals from the cave at the Astro Gallery.
These are some of the magical wonders you can see during a family vacation. There are some others that I can recommend as I am personalizing your next family trip. All you need to do is let me know what your family is interested in, and I can help make your vacation as magical as possible.
