Does your family love spending time out in nature? Are you always searching for unique natural sights that will take your breath away? Well, I have discovered a few must-see European natural wonders you may want to check out during a family vacation. I am sharing these European natural wonders with you today. This will allow you to get inspired about making memories with your family during an amazing vacation. Once you know which of these natural wonders in Europe you want to see, let me know. This way I can personalize your family’s vacation itinerary accordingly.
The country of Iceland is full of spectacular waterfalls. However, one of those waterfalls is known as the Waterfall of the Gods. That waterfall is called Godafoss.
Many years ago, statues of heathen Gods were thrown into this waterfall. That is how the waterfall got its name.
I recommend having your camera ready to capture the beauty of the rushing water. Although, your video camera will be what brings it to life. If you happen to record this European natural wonder, you truly will never forget the memories you make during your visit.
Þinvellir National Park is also called Thingvellir National Park. You will find this gorgeous national park along the Golden Circle.
Within the park is the Mid-Atlantic Ridge tectonic plate. Your family will see numerous large rock formations popping up from the ground. All these formations create a maze that will make you curious, as you consider wandering through it all.
If your family wants to see Preikestolen in Norway, you will need to plan a hike. Preikestolen is also called Pulpit Rock. It is a scenic plateau that offers spectacular views of the surrounding area.
The viewing platform is quite large. So, your family will have plenty of room to spread out, as you enjoy the scenery.
Numerous natural wonders are scattered throughout Ireland. However, none of them are as fascinating as Giant’s Causeway. This European natural wonder is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There are approximately forty thousand basalt columns popping out along the coastline. If you ask the locals how these columns were put in place, you may hear a couple of different legends. Consider all the legends you hear and decide which one sounds like it could have happened. Making this decision may create a lively conversation amongst family members! Just a little warning…
If your family wants to visit one of the best beaches in the world, I recommend Loriga’s River Beach in Portugal. This beach can be found within the Serra da Estrela mountains.
There is a natural infinity rock pool filled with crystal clear water. The water is always cold since it comes directly from the mountains.
If you can tear your family away from the beach, head into the mountains for a hike. You may discover a few unique rock formations along the way.
Meteora is an area in Greece that can be found in a small valley to the northwest of Athens. When you arrive at Meteora, you will see that piles of rocks are lying around everywhere. If you look towards the top of the rocks, you will see monasteries that were constructed by the local monks.
One of the most famous European natural wonders is the Rock of Gibraltar. This piece of limestone has long been used as a place for strategic military positioning.
When you stand at the top of the Rock of Gibraltar, you can see unobstructed views of both Africa and Europe. Just be careful of what you are holding when you are at the top. The Barbary macaques that live near this natural wonder love stealing food, and other items, from visitors.
Finnmark is an area in Norway that is located above the Arctic Circle. The best time to visit this part of the world is during the summer. This is when the Midnight Sun is out between the middle of May and the end of July. Seeing sunlight all the time will be an experience your family will never forget.
If you can’t get here during the summer, don’t worry. The winter months bring the Northern Lights, which are just as amazing as the Midnight Sun.
My travel guide to Norway is packed with information you will need if you want to take a family vacation there.
Everyone dreams of visiting the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Why not make those dreams come true sooner than later by adding this to your next family vacation!
When you are visiting this part of Italy, take the time to explore Costiera Almafitana. You will find that area in Campania. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers stunning views of the surrounding areas.
Other towns to check out while on the Amalfi Coast include Praiano, Sorrento, and Positano.
Your family will love exploring Bialowieza National Park in Poland. During your time in this park, you will have an excellent chance of seeing European bison. These are the largest land animals in Europe.
These are the must-see European natural wonders you should check out during future family vacations. Only you know which ones will make your list of must-see European natural wonders and which one is at the top of your list. However, I will make sure you enjoy every minute of your time visiting these natural wonders. I will do this by personalizing your family’s itinerary, so it includes everything you all want to do while making memories in this part of the world.
