Do you have more than two children? If you said yes, then you are a proud parent of a middle child! The other week, I was having a discussion with one of my six children about who my middle child was. Was it child number three and four? Was it children two through five? How does one determine who is the middle child when you have more than three? I don’t know if we really determined an answer. But National Middle Child Day does have me wanting to spend a little one-on-one time with all my children. But where to go…??
There are multiple Hawaiian Islands to choose from, but your middle child will probably prefer the Big Island, Maui, or Oahu the most. If you are unsure which Hawaiian Island to choose, you can check out my thoughts here.
Now that we got that out of the way lets talk about why Hawaii is the perfect vacation destination for making memories with your middle child. It’s warm, sunny, and filled with thrilling adventures that kids love. You can spend hours at the beach, go off-roading, or hike to a volcano.
The options are endless when you choose one of the fabulous Hawaiian Islands for your next vacation.
Greece is absolutely gorgeous. You can choose to spend time on the mainland with your middle child. Or you can do a little island hopping instead. Most kids will prefer the latter because it means time on a boat and in the water of the Mediterranean.
Of course, Athens will be the dream destination for any child who loves history. The ancient ruins and mythology tours can keep you both entertained for hours. So, keep that in mind when considering this historical destination.
For the child who loves the outdoors, one of the best vacation destinations is always going to be Costa Rica. Imagine spending time trekking through a rainforest, hiking to a volcano, or ziplining high above the trees. Monkeys, sloths, and all types of birds will be waiting for you to spend time with them.
And in between trips into the rainforest, you can spend time at the beach snorkeling with the marine life.
Are you trying to stay in the continental 48 during this magical memory-making journey? Well, California is an excellent option that almost every kid will love! You can visit the Hollywood sign and try to find a few actors wandering around. Or you can hike through Yosemite National Park. Lake Tahoe is perfect for skiing during the winter months.
Death Valley will have your middle child appreciating the comforts of home. San Diego offers beaches, a zoo, and plenty of shopping adventures. And you can never go wrong with a day or two at Universal Studios Hollywood.
So many options and so little time will be what you are thinking when you decide California is the best vacation destination for your middle child.
If your middle child is a teenager and a girl, you must take her on a vacation in Dubai. The Dubai Mall is the largest mall in the entire world. There are more than twelve hundred stores. Add that to more than two hundred places to eat, and you have a teenage girl’s dream destination. Inside the mall, you will also find the Dubai Aquarium, Underwater Zoo, and Dubai Ice Rink.
Drawing your middle child away from the mall won’t be easy. But if you can manage it, there are plenty of other things to do in Dubai. Desert safaris on 4x4s are quite popular. Although some kids may prefer a camel ride over the sand dunes.
Boys will love Ferrari World. And all kids will have fun during a trip to IMG Worlds of Adventure.
There are so many options for taking a vacation with your middle child. As you are considering your destinations, you will want to keep in mind what your middle child likes to do. Remember, this is their special vacation. So, they should get to do a few things they love.
The goal is to spend one on one time with your middle child and make those memories you will both cherish forever.
