National New Mexico Day is a special day. So, what better day to celebrate all the beauty this fabulous state is known for! If you have never taken a family vacation in New Mexico, now is the time. You won’t want to miss the glowing sunset and mesmerizing landscape. Once you add in the delicious cuisine, your family will be hooked. But those aren’t the main reasons to visit New Mexico for your next family vacation. I will be sharing those next.
There are 19 Native American pueblos in New Mexico. There are also three Native American reservations. The Native American communities are the main reason why you must visit New Mexico for your next family vacation.
The Taos Pueblo is the most popular community. It is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can visit the Taos Pueblo to learn more about their community. When you visit, you must also spend time inside the Taos Mountain Casino.
Another pueblo you should visit is the Acoma Pueblo. The people in the Acoma community are known for their pottery. They sell their pottery inside the visitor center at the pueblo.
If you are looking for a way to relax and rejuvenate, you must turn to the resorts and spas in New Mexico. There are plenty of resorts and spas to choose from for your next family vacation. You can spend your time being pampered, while the kids venture off to conquer sand dunes or something.

A couple options include hiking through White Sands National Park, mountain biking, and riding in a hot air balloon. During the winter months, you can all strap your skis on and hit the slopes.
There are a few towns in New Mexico where you will feel as if you have stepped back in time to the Wild West. Lincoln is one of those towns. This area has been very well preserved. The adobe buildings from centuries ago look the same.
As you walk along the streets, you may feel as if you could pass by Billy the Kid at any moment. Especially if you just finished listening to a story told by one of the locals.
Okay, so I mentioned the food above. But until you have arrived in New Mexico for a family vacation, you won’t know what you are truly missing out on! Flavors from Native American dishes and Spanish dishes have combined to create delectable cuisine.
You will find delicious food everywhere in the state of New Mexico. However, some of the best dishes can be found in Silver City. This old mining town has been transformed into a foodie destination. And trust me when I say you won’t be disappointed.
