Have you been dreaming about traveling internationally, but need a passport? Are you finally ready to go have your passport photos taken, so you can fill out your passport application and mail it in? That’s exciting news! There is nothing better than traveling the world. Especially when you do it with friends and family. The memories you make will be ones you will remember for a lifetime. It will take a couple months for your passport to be approved. Then you will be able to travel anywhere you want for ten years. Unless of course, your passport application is denied. Today I am going to share the main reasons passports are denied. Some of these things are easy to fix. Others may result in you never being able to obtain a passport.
Okay, getting a passport photograph is fairly simple nowadays. You can have them done at many post offices, Staples, and even pharmacies. But it can still happen.
Thankfully, this is an easy problem to fix. All you need to do is submit an acceptable photograph and you will be all set.
Sometimes there is so much information needed on passport applications, it can be easy to miss a box or two. If you happen to submit an application with missing information, it will be placed on hold for ninety days. During that time, you can submit the necessary information.
If you don’t, then your application will be denied.
When you need a passport, you will discover that all sorts of documentation is needed. Some of that documentation can be submitted via photocopies. If your photocopies are illegible, your application will not be approved.
Submit copies that are legible to fix this issue.
The Department of State is very picky about how payment should be sent for passports. Checks or money orders are the only acceptable forms of payment. And that payment must be for the exact amount.
If you mail the incorrect payment, your passport application will be placed on hold for ninety days. During this time, you can submit the correct amount to finish the process.
Some of the biggest denial issues include legal reasons. These reasons are not simple to fix and may actually prevent you from obtaining a passport in the near, or far, future.
Some of the legal reasons that result in denial of a passport application include:
If you are experiencing any legal issues, you may even find that your current passport is revoked. Keep that in mind if you have a trip planned. It may be a good idea to check the status of your passport before finalizing your travel details.
Hopefully you don’t experience any issues when you need a passport, but this should help you out if you have any concerns. And while you are waiting for your passport, I can always start to personalize an itinerary for your upcoming trip. You may even want to take a trip to these seven islands that don’t require passports while you are waiting. Both these things will ensure you do exactly what you want while enjoying this time away from home.
