Do you have difficulty putting down your electronics and escaping from work and life? Have you been dreaming about taking a family vacation, but know you will still be answering emails and work calls the entire time? Well, how about taking an off the grid vacation in the US? There are so many remote destinations you can choose from when considering off the grid vacations. Today, I am going to share a few of the best off the grid vacations in the US with you. Maybe one of them will be perfect for your next family vacation. And if they aren’t, maybe a cruise to a remote destination will be the perfect solution!
Spencer Pond is an off the grid destination that will have you relaxing in no time at all. There are only six cabins in the area. And they are all quite a distance apart. Your family can do anything you wish lakeside. Although, if you are falling short of activities, you can always head down to Moosehead Lake. There is always an active family adventure happening down there.
Okay, so you won’t necessarily be staying at luxurious hotels if you choose to tackle the Appalachian Trail on your next family vacation. This trail is two thousand two hundred miles long and you can hike as much of it as you want.
There are cabins along this trail. However, if you want to maintain your sanity, we can always book a hotel room near each section of the trail you want to conquer. That way you can have an off the grid vacation without missing out on some of the comforts of home.
You can’t get any more remote than some of the destinations in Alaska. Your family can easily stay in accommodations in the middle of nowhere. In an area that can only be reached by bush plane.
This rugged terrain isn’t for everyone. However, it could be an option for a couple nights. Especially if you pair it with a little time in Anchorage or Fairbanks.
Adirondack State Park contains more than six million acres of land. It is well north of New York City, which means you have plenty of opportunities to escape the crowds.
Some areas of this park are more rugged than others. However, there are plenty of accommodations to choose from nearby that offer the amenities you desire while away from home. The best part is your accommodations will have cell service, while areas you visit during the day may not.
It’s one of the best ways to unplug without completely going off the grid.
Big Sur is quite a magnificent area in California. Most people choose to go there to see Bixby Bridge. However, your family may be more interested in the remote sections of Big Sur. There are a few remote areas to choose from and they all have different accommodation options.
If you are truly searching for a unique family vacation, you may want to consider staying at the New Camaldoli Hermitage. It is a Benedictine monastery where silence is always welcome.
These are some of the off the grid vacations in the US you may want to consider for your next family trip. I understand that some of these may be a little too off the grid for you. Don’t worry, I can find a happy medium that will allow you to unplug a little and still enjoy those luxurious touches you have grown accustomed to. It is all a part of what I do while personalizing family vacations. The best part is you will make memories with your family throughout the trip.
