Are you trying to adjust to your new empty nest lifestyle? Is it difficult to determine what to do every day, because you are used to adjusting your life to your kids’ schedules? Well, it isn’t really too difficult to go about rediscovering life after kids. There are plenty of empty nest adventures you and your partner can have at this point in your life. Today, I am sharing the reasons why you should embrace empty nesters travel.
Once the kids leave home, you won’t be getting out as much. Especially since you won’t be coming and going as the parental Uber driver. Therefore, it is important to find ways to stay active and healthy with your partner.
Empty nesters travel is one of the best ways to stay active. Exploring the world will have you walking, biking, hiking, and even kayaking or ziplining through some amazing destinations. You never know what you may do once you arrive at a new destination!
Waking up, going to work, running an errand, returning home for dinner, and going to bed will get old after a while. An excellent way to escape your usual routine is to venture out on an empty nest adventure.
There are so many different destinations you can visit while traveling as an empty nester. A few of my favorites include:
Of course, there are hundreds of other destinations. I can help you find the perfect one when I begin to plan your personalized empty nest vacation.
You know you have had a few bucket list destinations on your travel list for a while now. So, why not take the time to actually visit those places while you can?
Since you don’t have the time constraints of school, sports practice, and even finding someone to watch the kids, now is the perfect time to travel together.
I recommend starting to make a list of both your bucket list destinations. You may see that you have a few of them in common. If you do, start with planning an empty nester vacation for one of those.
It doesn’t even need to be the biggest bucket list trip. You can easily start small until you get the hang of empty nester travel!
Over the years, you have collected numerous memories that involve your kids. But remember back to when you were first dating? You know, when you were making memories with just the two of you?
Well, it is time to embrace making memories together once again.
You can make memories while touring a city or country of your choice. Or make memories while enjoying a cooking class or indulging in wine tastings. You may even choose to create a memory or two while learning how to scuba dive or while hiking to the summit of a mountain.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to creating new memories together while traveling as empty nesters.
New cultures, traditions, and even cuisine are waiting for you everywhere around the world. It is simple to incorporate all these new experiences in your empty nester vacation. Especially if you allow me to personalize your itinerary for your trip.
In Thailand, you can indulge in pad Thai, mango sticky rice, and other savory street foods. Traditional operas can be viewed in Verona, Italy. The cultural festival, La Tomatina, can be experienced in Seville, Spain. And you can wear a kimono while vacationing in Japan.
Other experiences include:
What new experiences would you like to have with your partner this year?
Have you ever gone on a family vacation and wished you had had time to see more? Well, now is the time to revisit those destinations without a time limit. The best part is you can do what the two of you want to do instead of focusing on what the kids want.
Head to a museum. Indulge in a five-course meal. Drink an extra glass of wine. And walk along hand in hand, as you relive the past while making new memories in the present.
Do you remember the days when you wished you could have peace and quiet for two seconds? You can now enjoy that peace and quiet for an unlimited amount of time during your empty nester travels.
You can sleep in as long as you want in the mornings. Enjoy a nap without interruptions. And you can stay up as late as you wish without worrying about tiptoeing around while the kids sleep.
There won’t be a child asking a million questions as you visit a local attraction. And sibling rivalry will be something waiting for you when you return home.
When your children were younger, they may have balked when it came to vacation time. However, you were planting a seed that family vacations were important.
Guess what? You are doing the same thing now!
When you venture out on an empty nester vacation, you are showing your kids that it is still important to travel the world when you are older. And that there is never a bad time to experience the thrills and excitement waiting for you in every new destination you visit.
Plus, in time, you will all be more than ready to venture out on a multigenerational vacation!
While these are my favorite reasons to embrace empty nesters travel, there are many others. And I can’t wait for you to experience them all when you head out on your next empty nest adventure.
