Copenhagen, Denmark 

The capital city of Denmark offers plenty of Christmas spirit during the month of December. Christmas markets are scattered throughout Copenhagen. However, the best place to go is Tivoli Gardens. This amusement park offers a magical Christmas atmosphere with lights and attractions.  

London, England 

You may think of London as a cool and rainy place year-round. The middle of November through the end of December brings a wintry wonderland to this beautiful city though. Your family will love ice skating at the Natural History Museum or at the Tower of London. Just don’t forget to stop at the holiday markets in Leicester Square and Carnaby Hyde Park.  

Vienna, Austria 

The oldest Christmas market in Vienna was opened in the 1200s. So, you shouldn’t be surprised that this city really knows how to show off their Christmas spirit. Head over to the Viennese Dream Christmas Market at the Vienna City Hall. The kids can attend workshops to make cookies or candles. The adults can drink punch while playing winter themed games.  

Rovaniemi, Finland 

A visit to the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi is a must when you are searching for the Christmas spirit during a family vacation. Everyone will love meeting Santa and his reindeer and elves. You may even get to go on a ride on Santa’s sleigh.  

For a unique spin on your family trip, consider staying at a nearby ice hotel. The igloos are perfect for viewing the Northern Lights.  

North Pole, Alaska 

Christmas is celebrated all year long in the town of North Pole in Alaska. So, if you can’t get away for a holiday vacation, you can still find the Christmas spirit in the middle of summer. Spend a little time at the Santa Claus House. You can find plenty of ornaments and Christmas souvenirs to take home.  

New York City, New York 

Another close to home destination that is full of Christmas spirit is New York City. Christmas arrives in the Big Apple for Thanksgiving and sticks around until the ball drops on New Year’s Eve. Start with a stop to check out the windows at Macy’s. Then head down to Rockefeller Center to see the massive Christmas tree. A couple hours should also be spent watching the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.

Nuremberg, Germany 

Christkindlmarkts pop-up all-over Germany during the holiday season. You will find many of them in the town squares. One of the oldest Christkindlmarkts is the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt. It was first opened in the 1600s.  

If you want to see multiple Christmas markets in Germany with your family, I recommend taking a holiday river cruise. It will definitely provide the Christmas spirit you are searching for!
