All throughout the United States, kids, and adults, are putting on their Halloween costumes. There are Halloween parties before the day of Halloween. Then there are trick-or-trunk activities, school parties, and the actual night of trick or treating. While you may know what happens on the mainland, are you aware of what happens during Halloween on the Hawaiian Islands? Halloween in Hawaii is very similar, with spooky witches and goblins scaring kids and adults on all the islands. So, if you think you might be taking a family vacation in the Hawaiian Islands during Halloween one year, this is what you can expect to do during a Hawaii Halloween.
The Pa’ani Ranch is located on the island of Hawaii. And during the Halloween season, they put on a Haunted Holoholo-ween. The haunted pumpkin patch is an all-time favorite on the island. Currently, you can drive through the 225-acres to do a little trick or treating. Don’t think you must spend all your time in the car though! You can walk through the pumpkin patch, as you listen to Halloween tunes. Make sure you bring your camera to this haunted event. The Instagram-worthy family photo-ops are incredible!
Over on the island of Maui, you will want to join in on the fun at the Lahaina Halloween Party. You must plan ahead if you want to attend this Halloween party though. This event is considered must-attend, with all the locals, and most tourists, vying for a spot. Traffic can be backed up for hours and parking spots are limited. Don’t worry though, because I can come up with a plan that won’t have you missing out on all the fun.
On the island of Oahu, you will find the Haunted Plantation. This is one of the best haunted houses on all the Hawaiian Islands. This haunted house is normally only open for about six nights per Halloween season, so you must really plan your time in Hawaii carefully. Tickets are a must for this event too, so you will want to make sure you let me know you want to visit this haunted house. This way, I can secure those tickets, as I am planning your itinerary.
The International Market Place is a popular shopping mall on the island of Oahu. During this event, there will be a keiki costume contest. The winner receives a gift card to a store of their choice at the mall. On Halloween, guests are welcome to participate in the trick or treating bonanza in the afternoon. All three levels of the mall are open for trick or treaters. While most stores participate, you should look for the balloons that indicate that a store is handing out candy.
Quite a few Halloween events happen on the island of Oahu during the month of October. One day before Halloween, the Lawn Area at Kapolei Commons turns into a free pumpkin patch. Costumed characters are there to help the children pick out their pumpkins.
Trick or treating is a go once again on all the Hawaiian Islands. While neighborhoods are an excellent choice, there are many shopping centers, town centers, and other locations offering trick or treating options. A few of the popular drive-through events are also sticking around.
These are some of the fun family Halloween activities you can do on the Hawaiian Islands. I can incorporate these activities in your itinerary with all the other things you want to do on the Hawaiian Island of your choice.
