Are you in the process of planning your next family vacation? If you are considering taking a Disney World vacation, you are going to want to keep a few things in mind. After all, there are multiple theme parks to visit. Tons of attractions and rides. And lots of food to eat. In between all this fun and excitement, you will have your kids clamoring for anything and everything under the sun. It may be enough to make you lose your mind. (Just ask how this mom knows…) I will share a few secrets I have discovered as I took my own children to Disney over the years. Once you see these things kids wish parents knew about Disney World vacations, you won’t see this type of vacation in the same way ever again.
Parents can get really excited when they plan a Disney World vacation for their family. Yet what they tend to forget is it is a vacation for everyone! That means everyone’s interests need to be represented. Your kids are going to have tons of ideas of what they want to do. So, listen to them and implement some of their “wants” into your days.
Or you can have a travel advisor like myself plan your Disney World vacation for you. I have successfully planned so many family vacations over the years. And each one has had every family member enjoying every minute!
As a parent, you know how much your kids want to go on rides and see Mickey Mouse. But don’t forget that they also want to have a little downtime to simply go swimming! Make sure you add a little pool time to your days. Or have an entire day dedicated to just swimming and having fun in the sun.
Kids are always going to ask for everything they see. Whether it is food or a souvenir. I always told my kids how many souvenirs they could have from our Disney World vacation in advance. I didn’t care if they purchased their souvenirs at the beginning of the trip or at the end. But if they purchased their souvenirs at the beginning, I didn’t have to listen to as many “I want” towards the end because they knew they weren’t getting anything else.
As your smartwatch counts up your steps for the day, you are probably thinking of how amazing your results will be at the end of the day. I recommend keeping your kids in mind, though because they are taking just as many steps, if not more if their legs are shorter. Little legs get tired quickly. So, take frequent breaks to give them time to rest.
I have found the easiest way to do this is to attend a show at certain intervals of the day. This will give everyone in your family a chance to catch their breath without missing out on all the fun.
You may know the plan for the day, but do you always share that plan with everyone else? Kids love knowing what is going on. And they are much more cooperative when they know because they get excited about where they are going.
I recommend keeping your kids informed. This way, you may not need to answer the same question a million times during your Disney World vacation.
When a child has a meltdown, they most likely will have no idea what they want. And yet, as parents, we often ask them what they want. If this happens to you during your family vacation at Disney World, I recommend focusing on them being thirsty, hungry, or tired first. Simply giving them a drink, food, or a break to rest can work wonders.
These are the things kids wished parents knew about Disney World vacations. I am sure all kids could share even more with us if we simply asked them. Check with your kids and see what their response is and then let me know…
