After a couple of years of outdoor dining, many of us have gotten used to being in the great outdoors when enjoying time with family and friends. Therefore, as you are planning a vacation, you may find yourself choosing more outdoor dining options than eat-in restaurants. There is nothing wrong with that since it is an excellent way to enjoy the local ambiance and a meal at the same time. As you are focusing on outdoor dining venues, I would like to share a few of the unique outdoor dining options that are available. When you add any of these to your next family vacation, you will discover that eating out is anything but boring. And trust me when I say your kids will appreciate that!
Over at Kennebunkport’s Batson River Brewing & Distilling, you can sample craft beers and more inside a private fish shack. There are a total of six fish shacks. Each one can be reserved for ninety minutes. And the shacks fit up to six people. After you sample a few new brews, you can feel free to order your favorite to eat with your meal. Lobster rolls are the most popular menu item, but the Bavarian pretzels are good too if your kids just want a snack.
It snows a lot in the state of Colorado, so it shouldn’t be surprising that you can dine while lounging on a snowy beach. You will find Snow Beach at the top of Aspen Mountain. While you can sit out on the beach, you may prefer to reserve one of the cabanas. As you experience this outdoor dining, you can listen to live DJ performances, while your kids play in the snow.
Amongst the hustle and bustle of New York’s city streets, you will find heated rooftop cabins at The Greens at Pier 17. These chalet-inspired cabins allow you to eat delectable cuisine while enjoying a cocktail and looking out over the river.
If you don’t want to take the elevator up to a rooftop or dine in a heated cabin in New York City, you can always eat inside a heated yurt. You will find these yurts over in the Winter Garden, which is in the East Village.
Skiing is one of the most popular activities in Colorado, so why not dine inside a ski lift gondola during your vacation! Over in Telluride, there are heated refurbished gondolas that fit up to eight people. And if a gondola doesn’t interest you, a pavilion and yurts are also available for outdoor dining. You can always ask the kids which dining option they prefer, so they feel included during your family vacation.
Over in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, you can dine in ice shanties at the Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club. When you reserve an ice shanty, you receive a free drink. Each ice shanty can be reserved for ninety minutes. Up to ten people can fit inside these heated ice shanties.
The private igloos you will find in the Capital District of Omaha are not made of ice. Instead, they look like snow globes and are heated. Multiple restaurants offer igloo menus, so you will have plenty of outdoor dining options to choose from while dining here during your family vacation. Each igloo can be reserved for one and a half hours. And up to eight people can fit inside.
Dining inside a rooftop chalet with views of Lake Michigan can take your vacation dining experience to the next level. You will find these chalets at Devereaux, which is Viceroy Chicago’s rooftop bar. Each chalet can be reserved for an hour and a half on the weekends and two hours during the week.
These are some of the unique outdoor dining options to consider when planning a family vacation. There are many others out there, so feel free to ask about options in other vacation destinations around the world.
