Going on family vacations means eating all sorts of yummy new foods. You can easily dine in any restaurant you walk past during your family vacation. Or you can choose a quicker option and stick with street foods. You can find yummy street foods in many countries. They are quick, to-go options, that will fill your family up. Today, I am going to share some of the yummy street foods you should try during your next family vacation.
Okay, the first yummy street foods on my list may not be at the top of your list of foods to try! Chalupines are quite popular down in Mexico. They are deep fried grasshoppers. Chalupines are salty, crunchy, and a favorite of the locals.
Grab an order and have everyone in the family try one. Hey, you may have been missing out on something wonderful all these years!
If fried grasshoppers aren’t your thing, hopefully you are more willing to try fish and chips in the UK. You can find this platter of food in many pubs and restaurants. However, it tastes even better off a street food cart.
There’s a place in Aldeburgh, Suffolk that is the best at making fish and chips. The line stretches around the block. Even in bad weather.
Forodhani is a combination of mayo, eggs, and vegetables wrapped in a very thin dough. The concoction is then fried until golden brown. It is considered pizza in Zanzibar.
Egg waffles were created in Hong Kong back in the 1950s. At the time, a store owner received broken eggs in his order. He didn’t want to waste the eggs, so he combined them with milk, butter, and sugar. He poured the mixture into a mold and baked it to create the egg waffle.
You may also see this street food referred to as bubble waffles or egg puffs.
Wurst is German sausage. There are many different types of wurst in Germany. I recommend trying all the different varieties you discover while on a family vacation in Germany. If you can’t try them all, at least make sure you have a taste of drei im weggla, weisswurst, and currywurst.
Check out all the different foods you can try while on a river cruise in Germany. There is so much more to eat in this country than wurst!
You won’t ever go hungry while on a family vacation in Italy. There’s food around every corner. However, when it comes to street foods, I recommend trying the suppli. They are rice balls that are stuffed with mozzarella before being coated in tomato sauce and breadcrumbs. They are then deep fried to create the delicious food you will come to love.
Anticuchos are kebabs usually made from alpaca meat. However, you can also find them made from llama or beef. The meat is barbecued on the stick. Simply pull the meat off for an easy snack. Try to find a vendor who includes a jacket potato at the end of the stick if you are looking for a more filling meal.
These are some of the yummy street foods you should try while on family vacations. There are many others of course, so it is easy to find options that your family will love. I can share some of my favorite street foods in the destination you are visiting, as I am planning your personalized family vacation.
