Beauty is everywhere in this world. Some of it is natural. Some of it is manmade. But how do you know where to go when you want to find the most spectacular areas out there? Well, if you are me, you start to look for some of the most amazing natural wonders in the world. When I started my research, I was surprised at some of the natural wonders that came up. A few of them, I wouldn’t call worthy of being on a travel bucket list. But I did find some that you will want to add to your list and check out during a family vacation. You may want to add them to your list of must-see world heritage sites.
Down in Mexico, there is a cave filled with massive crystals. Some of the crystals are considered to be the largest ones in the world!
It is thought that the crystals have been growing in this cave for at least five hundred thousand years. Yet, the beauty within this cave wasn’t discovered until the year 2000.
The magma inside this cave has created a space that is really hot and humid. So much so that even scientists haven’t seen the entire cave. Of course, that means you won’t be able to get inside the Cave of the Crystals at all. I know, not what you wanted to hear!
You can see a crystal from this cave at the Astro Gallery in New York City. And you can explore the rest of Naica during an amazing family vacation in Mexico. But the beauty of the inside of the cave will continue to remain a mystery.
Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world. It was once a lake that dried up. What remained was all this white salt. These salt flats in Bolivia turn into a mirror during the rainy season. I recommend visiting during the rainiest time of the year to see the true beauty of this salt flat.
You will find the expansive Amazon down in Colombia. Within the Amazon is the Caño Cristales River. This river has earned the nickname Rainbow River thanks to its reddish-pink hue and blueish-green tint. Those colors were created due to the plants growing on the floor of the river.
I recommend visiting between July and November for the brightest colors. The weather may affect the colors at any other time of the year.
We must plan ahead for your visit to this river. A permit is needed, as is a licensed tour guide.
You don’t need to travel too far to see one of the most incredible natural wonders in the world. The Sailing Stone Racetrack Playa can be found right in the state of California. This area is a large lakebed. It is located in Death Valley National Park.
The movement of massive boulders has created different trails. No one knows how those heavy boulders are moved by the wind. It’s a phenomenon that is one of the world’s greatest mysteries.
Getting to the Marble Caves in Patagonia will be an adventure your family will never forget. First, you must fly from Santiago. Then a one hundred twenty-mile car ride must be endured. Over a dirt road. Then you will all climb into a boat for the remainder of the journey.
Now, when you arrive at the Marble Caves, you will forget about all that traveling. This will be because the smooth walls of the cave will be illuminated by the sun. It’s a sight you won’t forget.
More than forty thousand basalt stone columns are located near the edge of the ocean. These columns were left here by an erupting volcano. These columns are quite the sight, which is why millions of people add them to their list of things to see while in Ireland.
Bioluminescence can be seen in water all over the world. But in The Maldives, you can see the neon stars crash right up onto the shoreline. The glowing waves really add a little extra ambiance to those midnight strolls.
I recommend visiting this island between the months of July and February. This is when the bioluminescent waves glow the most.
This underground river was discovered within the Saint Paul Mountain Range. The river is six miles long. It is currently on the list as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
When you arrive, you can take a boat tour to see the stalagmite and stalactite formations. During your time on the boat, you will feel as if you are taking a journey to the center of Earth.
They recently discovered waterfalls on the second floor of the cave. You may get to see them during your visit.
Seeing the Northern Lights has long been one of my favorite natural wonders in the world. You can see these dancing lights in Alaska. You can also see them in other parts of the world. If the Northern Lights are currently on your travel bucket list, let me know. I can find the perfect destination to view them with your family.
These are the natural wonders you should be adding to your travel bucket list. I know there may seem like a lot, but they are all stunning in their own way. Check them off one by one and experience some of the most spectacular sights in the world.
