Napa Valley is known as a luxurious destination where the wine is plentiful. However, that doesn’t mean that wine tastings are the only activity you can enjoy during your visit. This breathtaking area has plenty of adventures waiting for you. With so many options, you may find yourself a little overwhelmed during your road trip vacation planning process. Thankfully, I have done the research and found the best things to do in Napa Valley during your next wine road trip.
Best Things to Do in Napa Valley During Your Next Wine Road Trip
Ride the Napa Valley Wine Train
You cannot visit Napa and not take a ride on the Napa Valley Wine Train. This train will allow you to visit multiple wineries in one day, while enjoying a delicious meal, and wine, at the same time. The views during your train ride will be stunning, so you will want to make sure you have your camera with you.
Go on the Napa Art Walk
If you love looking at phenomenal works of art, you must go on the Napa Art Walk. This walk will allow you to see many different sculptures outside. While many of the sculptures are by local artists, every couple of years, international artists are showcased.
Go Horseback Riding in a Vineyard
Those who love horses will want to take advantage of the opportunity to ride a horse through a vineyard. The Napa Valley Horse Company is one of the businesses that allows this, and they have family riding days on Sundays.
Go Fly Fishing
Fly fishing takes some skills, but Napa Valley is one of the best places to learn. If you are ready to start fly fishing during your next road trip in Napa Valley, I recommend trying to go to Putah Creek, Yuba River, or Stanislaus River.
Shop at the Oxbow Public Market
The Oxbow Public Market is an excellent place to do a little shopping for souvenirs and food. However, you can also order a cocktail or two if you are ready to relax at the end of a long day of exploring.
Hike to the Summit at Robert Louis Stevenson State Park
There are many different hiking trails within this state park, but the five-mile hike to the summit of Mt. St. Helena is the most popular. The trail to the summit is called the Stevenson Memorial Trail and it begins at the parking lot located on Highway 29.
These are six of the best things to do in Napa Valley during your next wine road trip. Obviously, you will combine all these with visits to the local wineries. The entire family will love the time you spend exploring the vineyards in Napa.
